ReSpin has been awarded Startup of the Year at Återvinningsgalan 2025, a national event celebrating innovation and leadership within recycling and the circular economy.
The jury’s motivation highlights the core of ReSpin’s technology and approach:
“The company’s method for mechanical textile recycling is gentle and preserves fibre length, enabling new yarn to be spun from 100% recycled material.”
The award recognises ReSpin’s work to enable high-quality mechanical textile recycling, preserving fibre properties and creating the conditions for true textile-to-textile circularity.
A celebration of the industry’s changemakers
Återvinningsgalan is organised by Recycling, Återvinningsindustrierna and Avfall Sverige, and gathered around 200 participants at Berns in Stockholm to celebrate the recycling industry. Awards were presented in seven categories, highlighting innovation, leadership and impact across the sector.
The evening was opened by Swedish Minister for Climate and the Environment Romina Pourmokhtari, and the Startup of the Year award was presented by Kim Hette at REEN and the adventurer Oskar Kihlborg.
On behalf of ReSpin, Moa Berglund and Åsa Strandberg were present to receive the award.
Driving systemic change in textiles
“It was a fantastic evening in a beautiful setting. Change happens when we do it together,” says Åsa Strandberg, CEO of ReSpin.
We are most grateful to receive this honorable prize and would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the jury.
Winning Startup of the Year is an important milestone for ReSpin and a strong validation of our mission: to make textile recycling scalable, resource-efficient and locally viable, enabling a circular textile industry where waste becomes a resource.
